Our commitments to every member — how we work, what we stand for, and how we keep this space safe.
This charter applies to the Neurodiverse Fundraisers Community Forum — our professional peer community for fundraisers affected by neurodivergence. You will be asked to agree to it when you apply to join.
Our mission: A safe, professional home for fundraisers affected by neurodivergence — where you can be honest about your experience, learn from others who get it, and thrive in a career that needs you.
This charter is for everyone in the community — whether you're neurodivergent, undiagnosed, or a neurotypical ally. No diagnosis needed.
This community is for anyone in the fundraising profession who is affected by neurodivergence — whether you are autistic, have ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, a Tourette's condition, or any other form of neurological difference.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to belong here. You do not need to use any particular label.
Neurotypical allies who work alongside neurodivergent colleagues, or who want to make their organisations more inclusive, are also welcome — with the understanding that this space centres neurodivergent voices and experiences.
↑ Back to topYou belong here as you are. We prioritise safety, honesty, and accessibility — not growth metrics or positivity performance.
You do not need to justify your neurodivergence, disclose your diagnosis, or perform any particular version of neurodivergent identity. You are welcome here as you are.
This is a peer community, not a clinical support group. We hold space for real, honest conversations about work — the challenges, the adaptations, the systemic barriers, and the strengths. All discussions are grounded in mutual respect.
Growing fast is not our goal. Building a community where people feel genuinely safe to be honest is. We will always prioritise member wellbeing over metrics.
Neurodivergence brings real challenges — we do not minimise those. It also brings real strengths. We aim to hold both truths simultaneously, without toxic positivity or unnecessary medicalisation.
We design every aspect of this community with neurodivergent members in mind — clear structure, predictable formats, plain language, and explicit communication norms. Accessibility is not an afterthought here.
↑ Back to topBy joining, you agree to treat others with respect, listen before advising, and keep what people share here confidential.
By joining Neurodiverse Fundraisers, every member agrees to the following.
Don't question people's identities, give unsolicited advice, discriminate, share private information, or post harmful content. These will result in removal.
The following behaviours will result in immediate moderation action, up to and including permanent removal from the community.
Add a content note if your post covers difficult topics. Say what kind of support you're looking for. Only give advice when it's asked for.
This community welcomes honest conversations about hard experiences at work — discrimination, burnout, masking, and more. When sharing your own experience, please consider adding a content note at the start of your post if the topic may be distressing for others.
Example: Content note: workplace discrimination
When asking for input on a situation, please make clear what kind of support you are looking for — whether that is practical suggestions, lived experience, validation, or simply to be heard. This helps members respond appropriately.
Only offer advice when it has been explicitly requested. When sharing experience or knowledge, frame it as your own perspective — 'in my experience…', 'what worked for me was…' — rather than as universal truth.
You may share your experiences of working environments, including negative ones, without naming individuals. Please exercise care when naming specific organisations, and focus on the situation or systemic issue rather than individuals within it.
↑ Back to topWe start with a private conversation, not a public call-out. We act fast when someone is being harmed. You can report concerns confidentially at any time.
Moderation in this community is guided by care, not punishment. Our first response to a breach of this charter will almost always be a private, compassionate conversation — not a public call-out or immediate removal.
That said, we will act quickly and decisively when a member's behaviour is causing harm to others.
| Response | When used |
|---|---|
| Gentle redirect | A public or private nudge to re-read the charter when a post is slightly off-tone or inadvertently unhelpful. |
| Private conversation | A direct message from a moderator when a post has caused concern but appears to stem from misunderstanding rather than intent to harm. |
| Temporary pause | A short suspension of posting privileges while a situation is reviewed. |
| Removal | Permanent removal for serious, deliberate, or repeated violations — particularly those that cause harm to other members. |
If something in this community has made you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or has breached this charter, please report it confidentially to the moderation team. You will not be required to confront the member yourself. We take all reports seriously and will respond promptly.
↑ Back to topYou share only what you want to. No one can ask you to disclose more than you've chosen to share.
You choose what you share here. You are not required to name your employer, disclose your diagnosis, reveal your legal name, or share anything you are not comfortable with.
Please extend the same respect to others: do not ask members to disclose more than they have chosen to share.
